Nets vs. Web Streamers

Interesting rights battle brewing between the major broadcast networks and two web-streaming companies, Ivi Inc. and FilmOn.com. The Wall Street Journal reports that the networks filed for a restraining order in federal court against the two, which intercept free broadcast signals and then stream them on the net. Putting aside the legal issue for a moment: do the two stream the networks’ broadcasts in toto? Because if they do, you could argue that the advertisers get more air play by getting the exposure. And in that case, the two companies are guilty mostly of recklessness for not getting permission to air the programs first.
